Beth Moore
As the founder of Living Proof Ministries, Beth Moore seeks to teach women how to love and live on God’s Word. Beth’s Living Proof Live conferences have taken her to thirty-nine states since 1994 and they have been attended by more than 400,000 women. God has graciously given her the opportunity to speak to the body of Christ in many different countries as well, including Ireland, England, Singapore, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and India. With great joy, she began a radio ministry in 2004 called Living Proof with Beth Moore.
Beth has written numerous books and Bible studies, including Breaking Free, Believing God, and When Godly People Do Ungodly Things, that have been read by women of all ages, races, and denominations. Through the years, American missionaries and expatriates have taken the Bible studies overseas, resulting in the development of Beth Moore Bible study groups all over the world.
Beth remains very dedicated to her home fellowship, Houston’s First Baptist Church, where she teaches a 700-member Sunday School class. There she hosts an interdenominational Tuesday-night Bible study for women in her city. Because of her burden for unity in the body of Christ, Beth counts serving women of all denominations as one of her greatest privileges in life.
Beth has been married to her husband Keith for over twenty-six years and they live in Houston, Texas, with their two dogs, Beanie and Sunny.
Beth Moore “Unplugged”
We have worked with Beth on various ministry projects and took some time to ask her some questions about her walk with God and finding purpose.
Bluefish TV: What is your view of the Christian journey?
Beth Moore: This journey that we’re on is an unfolding, it’s an adventure, and it ought to feel like an adventure…He is very much involved and intricately displaying for us the glory of Jesus Christ and the means he has for us to get there. In every day experiences…whether we are having a blast or are literally crawling on our hands and knees…there something of an adventure in that process.
Bluefish TV: What is something you consider a priority for every Christian?
Beth Moore: God has created us with a need for purpose…we’ve all been created in the image of God whether we’re lost or saved. Every person is looking for some meaning, a purpose in their journey…there’s only going to be one way we are going to find that true purpose and that is in Christ.
Bluefish TV: What do you think is one of the greatest misconceptions in Christianity today?
Beth Moore: One of the biggest lies we could ever believe is that we can get it all together and that we have to do it in a certain length of time so that we are able to tell somebody else how to do it—get our list of points 1-5, do the following things and you’ll have it together. That was my temptation in my younger years. That’s what I really thought life was all about, especially the life of faith…I thought that you needed to get it together and then tell others how to have it together…it is about a work that will not be completed until we see him face to face.
Bluefish TV: With a thriving ministry, you understand being busy. How do you encourage people to manage busy times in their lives?
Beth Moore: God’s word tells us to do all things unto the glory of God. One of the things I can tell you I’m learning is that no one can do a thousand things to the glory of God. It’s what I like to call the captivity of activity. There’s no way God’s being glorified when we are in absolute frenzy of activity and every single minute is overloaded…if we’re doing a thousand things, I wonder how many of those things are really to the glory of God…we’ve got to be abandoned to Him, not to a particular assignment.
