Stormie Omartian “Unplugged”

Our team spent some time with Stormie on a recent ministry project. During the project we asked her some questions about following God. You can see more of Stormie in one of the Bluefish TV video resources at the right.

Bluefish TV: How do you encourage people who are going through difficult times, or are uncertain of what the Lord is doing in their lives?

Stormie Omartian: Sometimes God leads us in a different path and it’s not comfortable and we think we’ve really blown it, but actually He’s leading us into our future. That’s happened to me so many times—one time, I didn’t get a job that I wanted and I really needed a job at that point…I was so disappointed, but looking back on it now, I see how God had his hand on it; He was leading me in a different direction…He had to shut that door and that hurt, but when I walked the way God wanted me to go, doors opened up that wouldn’t have had I gone the other way…I want to encourage people to know that God has great things for your future and if you are following Him, you’re going to walk into that and sometimes you have to go through some really tough times where things hurt and where you’re not comfortable, but just keep walking with the Lord and keep praying and keeping asking God to show you the way and keep you on the path and He’ll do that.

Bluefish TV: How do you advise those who aren’t sure what the Lord has for their life?

Stormie Omartian: …as long as we’re faithful to be in God’s word…so that we can hear God’s voice, the more you’re in the word and the more you pray the more you can hear God’s voice speaking to your spirit…so, you walk the way you believe you’re hearing God instruct you…just leave it in God’s hands, trusting that He will do the right thing…you’ve just got to trust that He hears your prayers and that He’ll answer in his way and in His time and that the right things will be done and not to get too anxious about that if you don’t see fruit immediately or you don’t see the answers immediately.

Bluefish TV: How do you encourage those who have walked away from God to find their way back?

Stormie Omartian: I know that when you walk with God it’s a step-by-step, hour-by-hour walk and when you’re walking with the Lord even if you get off the path—if you say, “God I think I may have gotten off the path, redeem this situation for me.” He’ll take you from where you’ve gotten off the path to where you’re supposed to be, He’ll put you on the path to that place, He’ll get you where you need to go. It may take longer, but He’ll eventually get you there.
