Third Day
Atlanta-based Christian band, Third Day, began in 1991 and they have received eight gold albums, a platinum album, two Grammy Awards and 24 Dove Awards. Billboard magazine has gone on to call them "not only one of the best Christian bands of the '90s but one of the best rock bands, period."
Their 10 releases have contained modern rock, techno sounds, Southern rock and even praise & worship music, with two worship albums —Offerings and Offerings II — going platinum and gold, respectively. But even with all of the different styles and sounds, one thing has remained consistent, their mission to convey the hope and salvation in the eternity of Christ through their music. Their most recent album, Wherever You Are, is filled with songs of encouragement and hope, blended with the band's trademark roots-rock style.
Third Day’s other albums include, Conspiracy No. 5, Wire, and most recently Wherever You Are.
In 2003 the American Music Awards tapped them with a nomination in the Favorite Contemporary Inspirational Artist category.
Third Day “Unplugged”
We recently got together with Third Day to work on a video project. During that time we asked them some questions about their ministry as a band. To see more of Third Day, check out one of the Bluefish TV video resources on the right.
Bluefish TV: How did you get started?
Third Day: …We just started in the basement…just like any garage band…very innocent and humble beginnings. About two years later we had been playing at some churches, anywhere we could around the Atlanta area. From about 1994 on we were just doing everything we could, every opportunity we could take and here we are today…it’s just been a constant, steady growth.
Bluefish TV: been together for over ten years, what is it that keeps you going as a band?
Third Day: Music is a universal language…I think it’s something that draws people together…we have this unique opportunity as a band to get out there and draw people together in a crowd and worship God together—worship Jesus and uplift Him…what keeps us going is hearing the testimonies of people whose lives have been touched.
Bluefish TV: What is your ultimate goal as a band?
Third Day: The bottom line of our message is the knowledge that God loves us more than we can imagine…we just try to spread some hope out there. We have a message of hope and we believe that Christ has the power to change our lives. He’s done it for us…He’s done it in our own lives and that’s what we want to share with the world. We just hope that our music is encouraging and most of all that it points teenagers to Christ.
