Michael Redd
Born in 1979 in Columbus, Ohio, NBA star Michael Redd began playing basketball at age 2. He spent three years leading the Ohio State Buckeyes, starting in all 96 games. During his time there he won team Most Valuable Player honors.
In 2000, following his junior year at Ohio State, Michael was drafted as a second round pick by the Milwaukee Bucks. During 2002 in a game against the Houston Rockets, Michael made eight three-point field goals in the fourth quarter, a current NBA record. In October, 2002, he signed a four-year offer with the Dallas Mavericks but it was matched by the Bucks and he remained in Milwaukee. During the 2003-2004 season, Michael was rewarded with full starter's duties and later earned averages of 21.7 points per contest. In April of 2006 he scored a playoff career high of 40 points against the Detroit Pistons.
After the 2004-2005 NBA season, Michael signed a new contract with the Bucks, which will last 6 years. Michael chose to stay with the Bucks over leaving for his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Michael is a devoted Christian, whose father is a pastor. After signing his new contract with the Bucks, the first thing he purchased was a church building for his dad and mom. The church, Philadelphia Deliverance Church of Christ is in his hometown of Columbus, where Michael lives during the off-season.
