Young Christian soft rock artist, Bethany Dillon, is relatively new to the Christian music scene. Her self-titled debut album, released in 2004, was the highest selling female solo debut album for the year and attracted GMA nominations for both Female Vocalist and New Artist of the Year. The radio friendly All I Need single received a great deal of airplay worldwide, and reached the coveted number one position on the US charts.
Despite a heavy touring schedule, Bethany released her second album, Imagination, in August 2005. All of the songs were written or co-written by this 17-year old girl who writes with maturity well beyond her years. Creative growth is evident on this sophomore release, and some of the tracks stray from the pop formula that has catapulted Bethany to the top of the charts. Airplane, a whimsical tune about experiencing God in the simplest of situations, and New, a song inspired by the tale of creation within C. S. Lewis' novel The Magician's Nephew, are both prime examples of Bethany’s accomplished songwriting skills. This album prompted CCM Magazine to label her as the ‘future’ of contemporary Christian music.
Bethany appears on the recently released Music inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia soundtrack, and her song Dreamer, is featured in the movie Dreamer: Inspired by a true story, starring Dakota Fanning.
