Caedmon's Call

caedmon's call Contemporary Christian band, Caedmon's Call, fuses traditional folk stylings with world music and alternative rock influences. The band was formed in 1993 at Texas Christian University. In June, 1994, the band released their first album, My Calm//Your Storm , originally a cassette-only demo recording.

After spending time performing locally, Caedmon's Call branched out and began touring college campuses across the South, steadily building up a dedicated following of Gen-X singles. The release of their second independent album in 1995, Just Don’t Want Coffee, and their live shows led Musician magazine to call Caedmon's Call one of the best unsigned bands in America. Such grassroots success attracted the attention of Christian label Warner Alliance which signed the band in 1996. Though the label is no longer active, Warner Alliance produced what many fans believe is the band's finest work, their self-titled release.

The band’s 2004 release, Share the Well, was a result of their experiences overseas, working with mission organizations in India, Ecuador, and Brazil. The band desires to impact other cultures and also encourage their audience to recognize the needs of others around the world.

The band’s other albums include 40 Acres, Long Line of Leavers, and In the Company of Angels: A Call to Worship, and In the Company of Angels II: The World Will Sing.
