Christian singer and songwriter, Rebecca St. James, has been a defining voice in contemporary Christian music for more than a decade. She is known for reaching out to her peers and teens, using her signature blend of modern rock/pop sensibilities and lyrics of unwavering devotion.
With diversity and depth, the Australian-born singer, who is the eldest of seven kids, has made the globe her mission field since debuting in 1994 at age 16. Rebecca has been called the most influential woman in Christian music by Crosswalk.com and in 2002 she was named Best Female Artist by the readers of CCM and Campus Life magazines.
The song, Wait for Me, from her album, Transform, was defining for Rebecca because it addressed her inspiring commitment to remain abstinent until marriage. She continues to promote abstinence and is a national spokeswoman for the True Love Waits campaign.
Along with earning a Grammy Award for her album Pray in 2000, Rebecca has received multiple Dove awards. In 2004 she made a successful acting debut in the Dove Award-winning rock opera musical !Hero, and became the first artist to enter the world of Veggie Tales as the voice of Maggie.
Rebecca also writes compelling faith editorials and books including, 40 Days with God: A Devotional Journey and SHE: Safe, Healthy, Empowered - The Woman you’re Made To Be. Her other albums include Rebecca St. James, God, Live Worship: Blessed be Your Name, and If I had One Chance to Tell You Something.
When she is not touring or traveling the world, Rebecca lives in Franklin, Tennessee.
